Mastercard announced this week that is has finally reached its $4 million goal of raising funds for the charity, Stand Up To Cancer. The card company announced the Eat, Drink and Be Generous Campaign back in July which gave cardholders the ability to raise money for charity every time they dined out. The small donations have added up quickly and the goal has been achieved.
In order to continue funding this great cause, Mastercard has announced a new partnership with the Rewards Network, which is the force behind dining rewards programs such as iDine. From now until October 31, 2011, the Rewards Network will donate 50 cents to Stand Up to Cancer whenever diners make a qualifying purchase when dining using their registered Mastercard. The transaction must be over $15 and is applicable at over 10,000 participating restaurants.
“We are thankful to everyone who participated in Eat, Drink and Be Generous; from our cardholders to our restaurant partners, we could not have hit our $4 million goal without their generosity,” said Craig Vosburg, the Group Executive of USD Market Development at Mastercard. “Because of the great response we have received, we are excited to keep the momentum going by partnering with iDine for the next phase of our fundraising efforts. Each and every one of us can make a difference by helping SU2C’s Dream Teams of scientists who are working tirelessly to find a cure. No donation is too small and every penny counts.”
