Because of the increasingly common trend of graduates still living with their parents for an extended period of time, American Express has taken it upon themselves to help these young adults out. It has become the norm these days for grads to linger with their parents because of the difficulty in becoming financially independent these days and today the card company has launched a new program which provides free career tools for adults in their twenties.
The tools have been created in partnership with a leader in personal finance and lifestyle management, LearnVest.com and the social networking platform Crowdtap. A study conducted recently by Harris Interactive for American Express found that approximately 68% of new graduated and students are either working at a job not in their field or not working at all. Also, nearly 50% of them are receiving some type of financial help from their parents.
In order to help young adult graduates launch their careers, the new program’s tools will provide important advice and help for them to better manage their finances and job search. These are 10 day bootcamp type programs designed to educate in several factors including how to set career goals, financial plans, communication techniques, networking ideas and how to negotiate salary.
