altEither someone really wants to go to jail or this is one stupid robber. Whatever the case may be, a man did indeed rob a cell phone store at gunpoint only moments after using his credit card at the same location.

The incident occurred last Friday at around 3:40pm at a cell phone store located in Utah. Police were still looking for the man as of Monday.

The armed man walked into the cell phone store and shopped for nearly an hour. After finding what he was looking for which included some cell phones and a blue tooth device, the man went to purchase his items at the register. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the credit card was declined.

That’s when the man decided he was not leaving without his items and told the cell phone store employees that he was taking them. A store clerk confronted the man at the door and asked if he was really going to steal when the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the clerk.

Once the man was gone, the employees were able to pull up his name from the declined credit card transaction which they then turned over to the police. The robber turned out to be Robert John Novelli, 44. Police were also able to determine that the man who used the credit card was indeed the cardholder and not stolen.

Novelli was last seen driving a grey Toyota Tacoma and already has a warrant out for his arrest from an earlier Arizona robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call the Unified Police at 1-801-743-7000.
