Those that live in Missouri have been given a new warning from their Attorney General, Chris Koster regarding a new email fishing scam that targets recipients and claims to be from Stub Hub, a legitimate ticket sales website.
The warning says to be wary of emails from StubHub Orders, which charges unknowing victims thousands of dollars for supposed tickets they did not even order.
Koster warns anyone who receives the email not to click on the link which tells you to view your order.
In the email consumers are thanked for their StubHub orders and details are given including the order number, dates of purchase and event details for which the tickets were allegedly bought and the amount of the charges.
Once the link is clicked to view the order confirmation, consumers are brought to a site that asks them to confirm the purchase.
Unlike the legitimate website, StubHub.com, this link takes the visitor to a completely unrelated site where scammers are them able to access your personal information by hacking into your computers, creating a virus and stealing things like credit card numbers.
If you know anything about the email scam that could be helpful or have received one of these “StubHub Orders” emails, please file a complaint by calling the attorney general’s consumer hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
