Orlando Police arrested two people for using fake credit cards to purchase thousands of dollars’ worth of Universal Studios tickets on Saturday. Police say that 19 year-old Joan Rodriguez de la Torre, and 21-year-old Isabel Rodriguez-Nazario, defrauded Universal Studios out of thousands of dollars’ worth of tickets on Friday by using fake credit cards to purchase tickets and then selling them to turn a profit.
According to reports the couple told police that a man approached them at a gas station in Miami and offered to pay them $30 for every ticket that they purchased. On Friday, the couple drove up to Orlando and successfully purchased 30 tickets and sold 23 of them at local motels and on Craigslist. The couple would have gotten away with it, but when they returned to the park on Saturday and purchased another 40 tickets, Universal employees became suspicious and called the police. When officers searched the suspects’ car they found $1,400 in cash, merchandise, and a GPS system which were all bought with the fake credit cards. The two are now in custody and are likely to face heavy fines and possibly prison time.
