Recently there have been several reports of hospital robberies in which the perpetrator disguises herself as an employee in nurse scrubs and wearing a fake badge. The woman then makes her way to the employee’s lounge and steals credit cards from purses. Authorities in Volusia and Lake Country have been vigorously searching for answers that will help them solve this case.
The latest robbery happened on July 28th when a heavyset woman in blue scrubs with shoulder length dark hair pinned to one side fooled security by saying she left her badge back in the employee lounge. The incident happened at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Florida. Police say this incident is just the latest in a series of similar robberies taking place in the Central Florida area.
In security camera footage the woman was seen leaving with an accomplice, a woman dressed in normal clothing with short dark hair. They took off in a Dodge Intrepid. The two women went on to purchase several hundred dollars worth of gift cards during a shopping spree which included Target, Walgreens and CVS.
Police have alleged that these women have also robbed other locations in early July including hospitals in Daytona Beach, DeLand and Orange City.
