Former Wall Street advisor and long-time life skills coach Afarin Homer will be hosting financial literacy classes for kids and teens this summer. Homer’s course will teach young people, ages 9 to 18, about banking, budgeting, owning credit cards, investing and paying taxes. It will provide youngsters with the skills they need to become financially knowledgeable adults and help them start their financial independence off on the right foot.
"If we make our kids money-smart now, they will enjoy a lifetime of financial literacy and responsibility and, hopefully, not make the same financial mistakes of previous generations," Homer said. "As consumers, investors, entrepreneurs and voters, we all make decisions that involve finance and economics every day. Financially savvy citizens will be able to ensure their financial well-being in a changing and complex world."
There will be three separate week long courses divided by age groups. Classes will be held at Montgomery College, starting on June 20th and with run through Aug. 5th. Each 15-hour session costs $250 which may seem like a lot but could save your child from a lifetime of problems.
