altA former postal worker for the Singapore Post Centre, who was caught stealing credit cards from the mail he was supposed to deliver, was sentenced to 33 months in jail on Thursday. 24 year old Andy Soh Wei Keong and an accomplice stole 11 credit cards in order to buy S$104,428 worth of Rolex watches. The two sold seven of the watches before they were caught for an estimated S$46,300 but after two complaints were filed it didn’t take long for the men to be caught. So far, 10 of the victims have filed police reports and authorities managed to recover five of the watches and S$2,000 in cash.

Soh plead guilty to nine of the twenty seven charges waged against him. He is currently out on a bail of S$70,000 and he has agreed to surrender himself to authorities next Monday after he celebrates his wife’s 21st birthday on Saturday.

His accomplice Toh Xie Guang was already sentenced to 26 months in jail earlier this year. He is currently serving out his time.

Tampering with mail is a major offence in most parts of the world. The two are very lucky that they weren’t given a much harsher sentence.
