The organization that brings to the surface classified and private information for the public eye to see has plans to file a lawsuit against the credit card companies, Visa and Mastercard for blocking charitable donations to their cause according to the Hacktivist group Anonymous.
In an entry on the Anonymous blog, the group said, “(WikiLeaks and DataCell) gave prior notice to the parties involved on June 9: Visa, Mastercard and Danish based Teller, which manages credit card transactions on behalf of the former two companies. Teller was willing to reinstate services, as the press release notes, but was ordered by Visa and Mastercard not to do so.”
Anonymous also said that the WikiLeaks and DataCell “plan to take legal action against Visa and Mastercard via a complaint to be lodged with the EU Commission.”
Two lawfirms are set to represent the companies, a Danish firm called Bender von Haller Dragested and Reykjavik Law Firm based in Iceland. The two credit card companies are being accused of “engaging in an unlawful, U.S. influenced, financial blockade,” according to Anonymous.
Visa and Mastercard are being alleged of breaking 101 and 102 of the European Union Competition Rules and are also in violation of the Danish merchant laws.
No comments have been made regarding the possible lawsuits from the two credit card companies.
